Drones, festivals, movies… is there a better mix for having a good time? Drone film festivals are in vogue, and we have selected 5 of them especially for you, in order to encourage you to participate and, if you are lucky, to be able to make an unforgettable trip.

New York Dronefilm Festival

The New York festival is the senior one (since 2014) and the most international one: in its latest edition, it received up to 350 videos from 45 different countries. For the next edition, the deadline for submitting your videos is next December… and Eric Cheng (former DJI) will be in the jury.

Bay Area Drone Film Festival

Based in beautiful Santa Clara (California), this festival has high rewards (in drones and also in other awards, above 12.000 dollars value) and will hold its second edition on February 2016. Besides, amongst the members of the world-class jury will be Colin Guinn (3DR) and Scott Kesselman (AUVSI).

Dronefest

The third edition of this London festival, the first in the UK and on its way to turn into one of the main ones in the world, will take place on January 2017. The festival also takes part at skytech 2016 drone expo, the main event about drones in Europe.

Blue 2 Blue

Instead, if you are fond of the antipodes, Blue 2 Blue takes place at Avoca Beach, Australia. You can submit your work up to March 2016, when the first edition will take place. With a registration fee of 25 $, you can aim to get a Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 12 Studio Editing Software, as well as other monetary prizes.

European Drone Film Festival

Last but not least, the European Drone Film Festival, with an itinerant venue, held its latest edition in Málaga, Spain. Director is Philip Grossman, a well-known photographer and director, and the goal of the festival is to show short films directed and shot by Europeans, or at the very least, with locations inside the European Union area.

Amongst all these festivals, where do you want to take your AIRK drone videos?
