The different AIRK flights during second half of 2018
The second half of 2018 has been a busy semester for AIRK. Now that the year is almost over, it is a good time to review all the events, fairs, conferences and general activities in which AIRK Drones has participated.
If AIRK Drones started the year with a frenzy of activity, the second half of 2018 has not lagged behind. Now that the year is ending, it is a good time to remember the activities carried out by AIRK from July until December.
Smart Drone Challenge
July 22 was a sunny Sunday, and AIRK participated as a jury member at the Smart Drone Challenge, an annual competition organized by Educaires in which several student groups had to develop a drone in order to solve a social challenge.
Candelaria Drone Festival
A few days later, on July 31, the Candelaria Drone Festival started. In this big 3-day event organized by Candelaria (Tenerife) City Council and LleidaDrone Association, amidst conferences, a drone race and many other activities, the CEO of AIRK, David Matanzas, told his personal story at the forefront of the company.
Already in September, on the 8 and 9, AIRK attended to the tech fair Saba-TIC 2018, organized by DDC-dronesdecarreras.com in Sabadell (Barcelona). It was a great pleasure to work together with the young ones, teaching them how to fly nano-drones.
IV AEDRON Convention
On September 16, AEDRON, the Spanish Association of Drones and Similar, celebrated its IV annual Convention, and AIRK could not miss it: David Matanzas gave a workshop about 3D-printing applied to drone manufacturing.
Sant Miquel Agriculture Fair
Wrapping up the month, on September 29-30, AIRK took part in Sant Miquel Agriculture Fair, organized by LleidaDrone Association. Amongst many other visitors and authorities, we had the chance to show AIRK drones to the Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Luis Planas.
Fira del Vent
The winds of October took us to El Pla de Santa Maria (Tarragona), where on the 13 and 14, “Fira del Vent” was held. This fair was created in the 19th century, but today it has been reconverted into a meeting point for flying devices: over two days, more than 150 pilots could experiment and play with nano-drones.
RPAS training session at Terrassa Chamber of Commerce
In a RPAS pilots training session, organized by AlAire Pilotos and Aerofor jointly with Terrassa Chamber of Commerce on November 23 in Terrassa (Barcelona), AIRK gave a conference about the technical issues RPAS design entities take into account in the development of aircrafts, and about critical points that must be considered in the maintenance of these aircrafts.
1ª Police Drones Workday
Three days later, AIRK attended, jointly with AEDRON, the Workday organized by Mossos d’Esquadra, the police force in Catalonia. There, police officers from all over the country were trained in RPAS, regulation, applicable framework, and the future European regulation that will take effect in the coming months.
Sitges Xmas Drone Fair
On December 6, at Fragata Beach, Sitges (Barcelona), Sitges Xmas Drone Fair, a new fair on recreational drones organized by ARWorks, took place. AIRK gave a lecture about drones beyond the audiovisual sector.
Insights by GR-EX
Finally, on December 11, the Insights event, organized by Global Robot Expo, took place in La Nave (Madrid). In this relevant Workday on Unmanned Vehicles for Security and Surveillance tasks, David Matanzas gave a conference to State Security Forces and Corps, and also private security companies, about the different uses for unmanned systems in the field of security, and also about how AIRK can adapt and implement itself in any security environment, both with UAVs or UGVs.
These are the main events in which AIRK took part during the second half of 2018. What new challenges can we expect for 2019? We can already announce a very important one: we will return to Mobile World Congress end February 2019.
Until then, AIRK wishes you merry Christmas and a happy new year!
