Talk on New Spanish Regulation by RPAS
The first event where the CEO of AIRK, David Matanzas, took part this year was as soon as January 19, in the talk “New Drones Regulation”, organized by the shop FlyAway Drones at Sant Vicenç de Castellet (Barcelona). There, Matanzas pinpointed the key issues about the new Spanish regulation on drone flights.
III Jornada Universitat Empresa
In February, the CEO entered the academic world. On the III Jornada Universitat Empresa, AIRK was presented and acclaimed as a success case to students of Marketing degree of the School Mediterrani, affiliated to Universitat de Girona.
Mollerussa Drone Party – MDP2018
On February 23-25, AIRK attended to the legendary Mollerussa Drone Party organized by DDC - Drones De Darreras, non-stop 48 hours of competitions, workshops and masterclasses in which AIRK has collaborated with since its first edition.
Mobile World Congress – MWC2018
The highest point came end February. The entire AIRK team went, for the second year in a row, to massive Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress, which in recent editions transcends the mobile communications industry, and also involves participation of companies focused on robotics and drones, amongst other sectors. AIRK had the opportunity of introducing its latest developments, such as AIRK Educational division products, as well as attending many media, and networking with a myriad of companies to explore potential partnerships. Besides having a stand, this year AIRK also performed its traditional visit showing a drone-eye view of MWC2018 on the social networks:
YoMo 201
Parallel to MWC2018, the same promoter, GSMA, organized an annexed fair, YoMo, (from Youth Mobile) specialized in education-applied technologies. Of course, AIRK was also there, with the help of Educaires, carrying out activities to promote drones and technoethics in the world of education.
Race Drone Bar, 3rd edition
From business to leisure. On March 31, in the beautiful city of Sitges, was held the third edition of Race Drone Bar TV, as its very name shows, an event that blends the chilled-out atmosphere of a bar with mini drones races where what counts is taking part. But AIRK not only took part, and the experience was so good that they even appeared in the event’s promotional video.
Global Robot Expo – GREX2018
When April arrived, AIRK team headed to Madrid to take part in Global Robot Expo, a booming international fair on artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, robotics, healthcare technology and, of course, drones and aerospace, that took place in IFEMA Madrid facilities April 18-20. On this occasion, AIRK was represented with its classic orange carpet stand, and was also present in a talk about safety and rescue drones.
National Meeting on Civil Protection
Drones are one of the most practical resources than can be currently used to perform tasks and actions of the security forces in a faster, more effective and more secure way, and so it was explained by David Matanzas in his speech at the National Meeting on Civil Protection,that took place, also during the month of April, in Milagro (Navarra, Spain).
Ten Outstanding Young Persons
The Spring frenzy culminated on April 26, when JCI Catalunya and the Fundació Joves Cambres de Catalunya granted the Ten Outstanding Young Persons award to 10 Catalan youngsters, each one in a different category. AIRK Drones CEO, David Matanzas, got the recognition for his “scientific or technological merit” at the Teatre Municipal de Girona.
International Drone Day
The 5th of May was the International Drone Day, and AIRK could not not celebrate it. We gave a talk about the new drone flight regulation in an event that was organized by Educaires and Indrone Park in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
LocalTIC Cunit
On May 30, in collaboration with FlyAway, AIRK Drones took part for the second time in the technology and innovation event LocalTIC, organized in the town of Cunit. There, AIRK conducted several workshops to get drone technology closer to elementary, high school and professional training students of the city and surroundings. More than 400 students of varying ages could enjoy the activity.
mSchools Student Awards
Again jointly with Educaires, AIRK supported new generations participating in the fifth edition of mSchools Student Awards,organized by GSM and Mobile World Capital Barcelona. On June 9, young talents tested their skills assembling miniature AIRK drones.
11th Workdays about maintenance on the chemical industry and processes
On June 13, David Matanzas joined again a panel discussion, organized by the Spanish Association of Maintenance, during the “11th Workdays about maintenance on the chemical industry and processes”. On this occasion, the CEO of AIRK Drones explained the performances drones can carry out in the world of predictive maintenance and flaw detection.
Drons N’ Roses 2018
Back to the recreational side of drones, on June 16-17 AIRK attended to a new edition of Drons N’ Roses by DDC, where AIRK drones took again Roses (Girona) skies in friendly competition with other devices. Besides, as a new feature, minidrones races were introduced this year. This event was organized in collaboration with Race Drone Bar TV.
Sant Llorenç del Penedés local festival
Lastly, on June 30, AIRK took part, jointly with xDron association, in an informative day about drones. This activity was held as part of the local festival of Sant Llorenç del Penedés, where AIRK promoted, once again, a responsible use of drones, the relevant legislation and its uses and applications in the professional world.
